Research firm ESG Global publish a weekly info-bite and their latest focus has been security. They look at the impact of security policies on both business and technology and how enterprise companies need to consider all the component parts that make up a security strategy.
For those of us who are SME’s we can’t afford to lag either. GDPR compliance and security processes can no longer be ignored or swept under the carpet – we need to adopt best practice but also need to ensure we have a strategy that adheres to all the necessary legislation. We can longer just pay lip-service to the requirements as we are making a commitment to our customers and suppliers and we need to take this seriously.
A good start is to adopt a Zero-trust Strategy as this has both business and security benefits as explained by ESG Global (and they have data points to prove this with 77% of organisations seeing benefits). ESG on GDPR and the challenges with compliance.
Regardless of business size, we have a responsibility to understand GDPR.
