The individual was not initially concerned as he had an Apple phone and a tag on his keys so he should, in theory, be able to locate them. The fob is supposed to bleep when you are near, but no one could hear anything, so he proceeded to pull absolutely everything back out of his van which, it has to be said, was badly packed in the first place.
The contents were now strewn over the ground, but the keys were nowhere to be found. He knew that they were not technically lost, because if he moved away from the van, he could see on the App that he was going in the wrong direction. So, everyone was randomly riffling through the items on the ground. At this point I decided on a more formal plan, systematically going through the mess and putting it to one side once searched and it only took me 5 minutes to locate the keys.
