ERP systems have never been more critical than they are now, with every business, of every type, and in every sector, keeping an ever-more vigilant eye on profitability, growth (or decline) and cash-flow to ensure continuity. We have been covering the trends to look out for in 2021 but this is an evolving landscape as businesses face such immense change.
Powerful analytics and insight are more vital than ever and there is a growing trend to pull data into Power BI (or some form of external analytics tool), or even spreadsheets, to be able to look at both structured and unstructured data and see how that affects the business.
But you can still end up in spreadsheet cell-hell and even Power BI prison, without core stability, data integrity and one version of the truth. The way to secure this is with a data governance strategy that defines who has the right to do what to which pieces of data. The earlier you start a governance strategy on where it is stored, who has access and who can edit, the better.
