I find true inspiration in watching Team GB take part and I believe many youngsters will be starting out on their sporting careers with a new spring in their step as they begin the journey in the hope that it will lead to the top – to the Olympics.
In conclusion, some phrases that made me smile …
• We went from A to B, pulled like a dog and put it up to the French.
• “Your third leg was fantastic.” (Yes, Clare Balding did say that)!!
• I’m just waiting to wake up!
• I was dreading going home. As Mick said, he’d box our heads off if we didn’t do it!
• There’s plenty of people out there with two arms and two legs who can have a go.
• Never give up, never surrender – Oh no, that’s from a classic old film (can anyone name it?)
There is more sport to come but I am going to reflect now in the words of Oli Townend “there’ll be a big celebration and I don’t think it will be with a cup of tea and a biscuit.”
